YEDC holds first quarter Town Hall; hails best performing staff

09 March 2015

It has been a tradition of the YEDC management since inception to hold Town Hall meetings quarterly. This quarterly forum is often aimed at appraising departments’ activities against the company’s objectives. The Town Hall provides an avenue for interaction between staff and management with opportunities for question and answer, including feedback on issues that will enhance the smooth operation of YEDC. The MD/CEO Engr Luis Doble, Jr. while addressing staff at the Q1 2015, appreciated the effort of the staff in moving the company forward despite prevalent challenges. Luis enumerated a few successes recorded so far including staff training, recruitment, office rebranding and network improvement. He explained that these would not have been possible without the understanding and support of the staff stressing that with cooperation and teamwork the company can overcome it challenges.

He lamented, the low power allocation to YEDC that has limited our revenue base in addition to the insecurity being experienced in some parts of the company’s areas of operation and commended the efforts of the overnment and security operatives including the local vigilantes and the ”civilian JTF” for liberating some of the erstwhile occupied areas including Mubi, Gombi, Hong and Maiha  in Adamawa states, disclosing that effort is being made to assess the damage on YEDC equipment in the affected areas with a view to restoring electricity supply to the areas as soon as possible.

In conclusion Luis applauded government and the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) for restoration of power to Maiduguri, thanked all well-wishers of the company and called on all employees to uphold integrity, loyalty and hard work and the core values of the company.
Other highlights of the event were departmental updates, presentation of certificates to top performing staff and a question and answer session where staff raised concerns and were responded to by management.
